✿ Jesus’ Birth ✿

✽ Transition to Bible Time ✽

Seat children in the Bible Time area. In preparation for the story you will introduce five words—count, hay, manger, cloth, and shepherd.

Say “Let’s count the children in our class”. walk around lightly tapping each one on the head, counting 1-2-3, etc.

Hold up vocabulary flash cards, one at a time, and say:

Hay—long grass animal eat.

Manger—food box for animals. Have you seen a dog or cat eat food from a bowl? Big animals like sheep and cows need big things to hold their food.

Cloth—towels and bed sheets are cloth. What we wear is made from cloth. Baby blankets are made from soft cloth. Option: bring sample of a soft cloth.

Shepherd—sheep are animals that have a fluffy coat. They say BAAA! They sometimes run away. Shepherds are people who take care of the sheep. Shepherds watch sheep so no other animals will hurt them. Option: bring sample of wool or soft cotton balls to represent soft wool.
